Where to shoot (Ranges)?

Wed Jul 29, 2009 12:53 pm by Sailor - Admin

So far the ranges available in NCR are as follows:

  1. Splendido - Tierra del Fuego Gun Club - 100, 200, 300 meters easy
  2. Armscor - Armscor Gun Club - 75 meters limit
  3. Langhaya - 100 meters
so far these are the only ranges with anything above 50 meters.
Would appreciate any suggestions within the NCR or outside NCR.

What reticle do you use?

Tue Jul 28, 2009 11:43 am by Sailor - Admin

Some have mentioned that the mildot reticle is the reticle to use. Some went further with the extended mildot (6 mildots instead of 4 per line). Others claim the mildots are still too thick for 200- 250 yard shots as they cover the target (anything from 4 inches and above at 200 to 250 yards)- they recommend instead getting reticles with fine stadia or lines those with range marks. This way you si...

What Ammo do you shoot?

Wed Jul 29, 2009 12:10 pm by Sailor - Admin

First issue: Standard Velocity versus High Velocity

All US googled items point out to using standard velocity ammo (match ammo being also standard velocity). The matches in the US for Tactical Precision Rimfire have been won with Wolf standard velocity or its equivalent. The idea behind std. vel. versus High Vel. is that the standard velocity travelling at 1050 -1070 feet per second r...

READING THE WIND
By Shawn Carlock
If you are new to long range hunting or and experienced veteran, most will agree that the ability to accurately read the wind is what separates a fair shooter from and exceptional one. Let me say that reading the wind is like most anything else; a lot of people have a lot of ideas about how to do it and how to apply it. I have had a fair number of su...

Historical info

Wed Jul 22, 2009 3:18 pm by Sailor - Admin

For all those concerned, since 2003 shooters from the Southern Philippines have been using 22LR's for 200 yard shots Shocked . They have more than a handful of shooters in Butuan and Davao already hitting at that distance and having a wealth of experience in doing so. Luckily in the guns show Joel Gatchalian of ARMSCOR introduced me to one of the them. Spent almost two to three hours talking to th...
